Children Empowerment
A survey by Save the Children found that 95% of Palestinian children suffer from mental health problems, including depression, trauma and emotional distress. Many children show symptoms consistent with complex post-traumatic stress disorder, including emotional disregulation, difficulties forming relationships, negative self-perception, hypervigilance and avoidance behaviours. Those with no access to psychological and mental health support are simply denied a proper childhood and have little or no hope for the future.
Since 2012, LOGICA has been running the TEAM programme (Together Everyone Achieves More) targeting thousands of children throughout the West Bank aged 5-17. We run our activities in partnership with the Ministry of Education in Palestine, the GFP organisation in Jordan and WonderWise in Belgium.
Our current programme involves working with 24 different groups of children, half from the most affected areas (Tulkarem, Jenin and Nablus) and half from the refugee camps. We run these sessions every week, and our teams travel to the children rather than having them come to us, to ensure their safety. We support children through:
Mental Health: Healing Invisible Wounds in Tulkarem, Jenin and Nablus
War leaves scars deeper than bullets. Children wake up screaming from nightmares and disorders. Mothers collapse under grief and trauma. We offer:
- Trauma therapy sessions for women and children. Women find solidarity in shared stories, while children express their emotions through art, play, and guided counselling.
- Safe spaces for kids to play, learn, and heal. Our team transports children from high-risk areas to secure centres, offering structured activities, education, and psychosocial support—then ensures they return home safely.
- Psychological first aid to help families cope with unbearable loss. We help parents, siblings, and grieving children cope with shock, depression, and the overwhelming trauma of losing loved ones.
- Home Visits for Large Families: Households with five or more children face compounded stress—financial strain, emotional burnout, and constant fear. Our teams visit these families at home, providing tailored therapy, parenting support, and resources to help them heal together.
A Future Beyond Survival: Hope for Healing
We aim for more than survival—we fight for dignity, recovery, and peace. Our vision is bold: to create a holistic healing and support network across the northern West Bank, ensuring no one suffers in silence. We are evolving into a full-spectrum care collective, offering not just crisis intervention but long-term mental health support, empowerment, and community rebuilding.
- Counselling centres for long-term mental health care targeting children, women and youth through intensive sessions and social initiatives where people can heal together.
- Workshops & creative spaces where children can reclaim their childhood. Through art therapy, sports, music, and storytelling, children rediscover joy, expression, and the freedom to be kids again. These workshops are more than activities, aiming to help children express their opinions and build skills.
- A support network for those who have lost everything and need to rebuild their life. Specialist in different fields working with the most affected families and helping them to rebuild their lives.
For over ten years, our team has been specially trained to use art, sport, and creative thinking as tools to engage traumatised children and improve their skills:
- Training the Community: between the years 2014-2020, we trained 30 principals, 70 teachers, 15 counsellors, 5 educational supervisors and 30 university students, implementing our activities in more than 65 locations. Cooperating with the Ministry of Education in Palestine, local councils and local sports clubs.
- Expanded Crisis Response: since October 2023, our activities have not only been limited to providing structured activities and sessions to help reduce the effects of collective trauma and restore a sense of normalcy to their lives, but we have also been working intensively to provide basic survival needs, especially for children (milk, water, bread and clothes), following the withdrawal of military forces.
- International Recognition: Our programme won the Samsung Generations For Peace Award for sustainability in 2015.
Our ability to respond effectively and immediately in times of crisis is built upon the foundation of our well-trained and deeply trusted team. Composed of dedicated local professionals and volunteers, our staff is not only expertly skilled in trauma-informed care and psychosocial support but is also deeply embedded within the communities we serve. This unique combination of professional competence and community trust enables us to navigate complex environments safely, assess needs accurately, and deliver critical interventions without delay, ensuring help reaches the most vulnerable precisely when they need it most.
Their healing cannot wait. Become a part of this collective healing and be the reason a child finds hope again!
