The Tulkarm Yurts Project - Community Hub and Healing Centre
In the heart of ongoing conflict, where safety is scarce and trauma runs deep, a different kind of shelter is rising. Not made of concrete and steel, but of canvas and community—a sanctuary woven from resilience itself.
While our work continues from a small office, the overwhelming need for healing, unity, and economic survival has called us to think differently. To act immediately. That’s why we’re launching the Tulkarem Yurts Project: an agile, transformative community hub nestled within a local school’s grounds, bringing light directly to where darkness lingers.
This is more than a space. It’s a promise—a living, breathing response to war. A place where children laugh again, where mothers find support, where farmers and entrepreneurs regrow not just crops—but futures.
Our Vision: The Tulkarem Yurts Project - A Hub for Healing and Rebuild
The Tulkarem Yurts Project is a holistic haven designed for recovery on every level—emotional, social, and economic. It’s a place where trauma is met with therapy, isolation with innovation, and despair with dignity.
Within this sanctuary, you’ll find:
Why Yurts? A Model of Sustainable and Symbolic Innovation
We have intentionally chosen a structure of yurts for their profound symbolic and practical value:
- Rapid Deployment: Their modular nature allows for swift construction and adaptation as needs evolve, enabling us to begin healing work without delay.
- Cultural Resonance: The circular design fosters equality, connection, and inclusivity—there is no "head of the table," perfectly mirroring our community-led ethos.
- Cost-Effectiveness & Sustainability: This model offers a highly efficient use of resources, ensuring donor and investor funds are maximised for programmatic impact rather than expensive traditional construction.
A Scalable Model for Maximum Impact
This is not a static project but a scalable model for recovery. The Tulkarem Yurts Project is the first step in a larger vision to develop a network of supportive collectives across the Northern West Bank, all powered by our local coordinators who are deeply trusted by their communities.
Our Proven Foundation for Success
The success of this vision is already underway. Our coordinators are not just staff; they are community leaders chosen for their empathy and trusted relationships. They are already experts trained in using art, sports, drama, and creative thinking as tools to build resilience and provide emotional outlets for traumatised children and women. This centre will amplify their proven work, allowing them to serve 300-450 community members each week with structured programs.
Invitation to Give a Hand
We are at a pivotal moment. We are curating a coalition of partners and donors who believe in investing in mobile infrastructure that heals and rebuild desperate societies. This project represents a unique opportunity to fund a model of community recovery that is both immediately impactful and sustainably future-proof.
